Physiotherapy
Our Physiotherapists are Manual Therapists. Manual therapy refers to the use of the hands to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal disorders. Manual therapy can help you recover from symptoms of arthritis, whiplash, TMJ, sciatica and sport injuries, among many other conditions.
Manual therapy can help relieve pain and improve function. It includes treatments such as myofascial release, muscle energy work, active release techniques and joint manipulation/mobilisation.
In Canada, physiotherapists receive post-graduate training in manual therapy through the Canadian Physiotherapy Orthopaedic Division. The CAMPT designation is given to physiotherapists who have completed the training and achieved an internationally recognized level of competency in manual and manipulative therapy.
Our Physiotherapists have large toolboxes of treatment that include Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) , Functional Dry Needling (FDN), Acupuncture, strength and conditioning for active rehabilitation, Pilates, shockwave, ultrasound and more!
Shockwave
Shockwave therapy accelerates the healing process in the body by stimulating the metabolism and enhancing blood circulation to regenerate damaged tissue. Shockwave technology delivers strong energy pulses that are applied to the affected area for short periods of time. This stimulates cells in the body that are responsible for bone and connective tissue healing. In many instances, shockwave therapy treatments, have proven to be effective in cases where the human body has not been able to heal itself on its own.
Shockwave therapy was initially introduced as a way to break down kidney stones without direct contact.
It then evolved to treat non-healing bones by activating osteoblasts.
Today it treats a wide range of medical conditions, including:
Plantar fasciitis
Achilles tendinopathy
Jumper’s knee (patellar tendonitis)
Treatment of tendinopathy
Hamstring muscle injuries
Myofascial trigger points
Bursitis
Stiff big toe (hallux rigidus)
Non-healing ulcers
Tendonitis
Scar tissue
Calcific tendonitis of the rotator cuff
Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)
Broken bones that have failed to heal (nonunions)
Shoulder pain
Tennis elbow
Heel spurs
Shin splints
Stress fractures
Enhancing bone healing
Muscle and connective tissue injuries
And more
Concussion and Vestibular Therapy
Vestibular / Concussion Rehabilitation is an exercise-based approach for treatment of dizziness and balance problems. After careful assessment and identification of the factors triggering the episodes of dizziness, appropriate techniques may be carried out to reduce current symptoms and/or an exercise program will be designed for each patient. This exercise regime is based on the rationale that repeated exposure will decrease the nervous system’s sensitivity to the stimuli. Balance and disequilibrium problems in the elderly have been shown to respond well to progressive balance retraining as well as specific stretching and strengthening techniques, based on assessment findings.

Custom Orthotics
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically, the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health.
Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Physical function can be developed, maintained and improved; and physical dysfunction and pain and the effects of stress can be relieved or prevented through the use of Massage Therapy.
Stretching and Flexibility
Stretch Therapy helps increase flexibility by guiding you through deeper stretches that may be difficult to achieve on your own. It's an effective way to improve joint mobility, making everyday movements easier. This is especially beneficial for those who experience stiffness.
Pilates
One on One Clinical Pilates using reformer and/or mat.
There are two types of Pilates: mat Pilates and reformer Pilates. Our classes are based on Mat Pilates as it is a "take away" in that everyone has a mat.
The Reformer is a machine which is a sliding platform complete with stationary foot bar, springs, and pulleys that provide resistance. We offer 1:1 reformer sessions.
Both options focus on the concept of control rather than cranking out endless reps or achieving muscle exhaustion. In Pilates, your muscles are working to lift against gravity and (in the case of the reformer) the resistance of the springs or bands, with the ultimate goal of strengthening and isolating the right muscles. Your goal should be to take your time with the exercises, focus on the task at hand, and connect to your breath. Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility.
Telehealth Online Video sessions
Our online Video Virtual one:one Telerehabilitation services were created for ANY individual whom can not make it to a clinic appointment.
We eliminate this barrier and come to you via a screen in your home for the same great quality appointment
There will alway remain circumstances where an in person visit is required ~ but research is continuing to show us that virtual visits can address and treat the same needs, and to the same level of care, for MANY conditions that an in person session can. With current technology and techniques, virtual care is most useful in situations where exercise, education, self-management instruction, and monitoring are the primary methods used to accomplish the therapeutic goals. With creativity, these forms of therapy are fairly easy to adapt to the virtual environment for many different conditions including postpartum rehabilitation, acute or persistent back pain, sports injuries, vestibular rehabilitation, concussion rehabilitation etc.
Virtual care for orthopaedic surgical recovery from total hip and knee replacements has been shown to achieve very similar results compared to in person physiotherapy visits.
Common treatments through telerehabilitation include: self mobilization, education, exercise retraining, active exercise, review & progression of home exercise programs, movement retraining
As teleHealth is relatively new it is best to check with your provider directly. According to the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia, Sunlife and Great Westlife extended benefits accept telerehabilitation. ICBC has also approved telerehabilitation in the short-term due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our policy with 3rd party funders is that you pay us, we issue you a receipt which you then submit to your insurer.
