Physiotherapy
Our Physiotherapists are Manual Therapists. Manual therapy refers to the use of the hands to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal disorders. Manual therapy can help you recover from symptoms of arthritis, whiplash, TMJ, sciatica and sport injuries, among many other conditions.
Manual therapy can help relieve pain and improve function. It includes treatments such as myofascial release, muscle energy work, active release techniques and joint manipulation/mobilisation.
In Canada, physiotherapists receive post-graduate training in manual therapy through the Canadian Physiotherapy Orthopaedic Division. The CAMPT designation is given to physiotherapists who have completed the training and achieved an internationally recognized level of competency in manual and manipulative therapy.
Our Physiotherapists have large toolboxes of treatment that include Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) , Functional Dry Needling (FDN), Acupuncture, strength and conditioning for active rehabilitation, Pilates, shockwave, ultrasound and more!
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically, the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health.
Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Physical function can be developed, maintained and improved; and physical dysfunction and pain and the effects of stress can be relieved or prevented through the use of Massage Therapy.
Pilates
One on One Clinical Pilates using reformer and/or mat.
There are two types of Pilates: mat Pilates and reformer Pilates. Our classes are based on Mat Pilates as it is a "take away" in that everyone has a mat.
The Reformer is a machine which is a sliding platform complete with stationary foot bar, springs, and pulleys that provide resistance. We offer 1:1 reformer sessions.
Both options focus on the concept of control rather than cranking out endless reps or achieving muscle exhaustion. In Pilates, your muscles are working to lift against gravity and (in the case of the reformer) the resistance of the springs or bands, with the ultimate goal of strengthening and isolating the right muscles. Your goal should be to take your time with the exercises, focus on the task at hand, and connect to your breath. Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility.
